Southend Experience as you might expect should have something
about Southend-on-Sea.
Southend-on-Sea is in the County of Essex and is on the northern
estuary lip of the Thames. With The Longest Pleasure Pier in the
World, some 1.3 miles long. Southend was a popular seaside destination
for holidaymakers from London, especially the Eastenders. Now it
finds itself a day trippers destination and has a thriving nightclub
culture. But Southend-on-Sea is also a town where people live and
work. A community of people going about their daily lives.
Below you will just some of the things about Southend-on-Sea,
its inhabitants and some of it's attractions.

Southend-on-Sea
Borough Council site. Newly developed site. Lists all the current
council projects. Having had a complete redesign, and taking more
than two years to get on the web, lets hope it will keep locals,
as well as visitors fully informed of all thats going on.

Southend-on-Sea
RSPB Group's excellent web site. If you are interested in wildlife
or a bird watcher, you will really enjoy this well worked web
site. It has lots of interesting details. A word for Graham Mee,
the site's Web Master - "how do you find to make the site
and be such a keen bird watcher."
The site contains so much information, you simply have to take
a look yourself.

Southend
Hospital NHS Trust. This hospital serves the local community of
southeast Essex, with it's 800 beds. Find out on their web site
just what is going there, as well as the services they provide.
|
|
Southend Photographic Society. Founded in 1900, so they
think they might know a little bit about photography. Their web
site has a lot of useful information about the Society, as well
as a few photos. All aspects of photography are covered, including
the traditonal as well as the digital. Take a look and see just
what they have on offer.

Southend-on-Sea local site.
|
|
Southend United. The Offical Web Site. The local Football (Soccer)
team. Their site shows they aren't only about that 90 minutes
on a Saturday. There's so much more goes on behind the scenes.
Should also be first with the news about the team, etc.
|
Local football (soccer) team, Southend United have high hopes. But
have always found it hard to get into the top flight. This independent
site provides a real insight in "The Shrimpers" way of
life. Though not the official site, they do provide a really good
insight into what is happening. I wonder, do Southend Directors
some time look at what's going on - just a thought. |
Southend has two rail providers. This is one. Formerly LTS
(London Tilbury Southend) it runs from Shoeburyness to London's
Fenchurch Street Station. There are two basic routes, one via Basildon,
and the other via Grays. Known for years as "The Misery Line".
C2C has some work to do to improve the line and it's image with
the travelling public. Maybe there web site is an indication of
their commitment. Only time will tell. |
|
Essex
based County news and classified web site, run by Evening Echo
Newspapers. Provides some useful information.
|
|
Adventure Island's Playground. Set on the sea front & by the pier,
this is the place for kids of all ages. Their web site includes
details of rides; prices; discounts; booking; events; etc.
|
|
Cook's Coaches. Provides some really good holidays
and daytrips. With a Head Office in London Road, Westcliff, their
pickups are spread widely over the Southend area, as well as further
afield.
|
|
Talk
Night Club, possibly Southend's best known club. Set on the sea
front, Talk's has excellent facilities for a night out. All kinds
of Modern dance music, House & Garage. Check their site for
weekly format.

The Kursaal holds a special place in Southend's history. In those
far off days when thousands of Eastenders flocked for their day
trips and works outings, The Kursaal was The Place to go, a fun
factory packed with all sorts. Today the refurbished Kursaal offers
a wide variety of things to do, both for the day tripper and the
local resident. |
|
The Knowhere Guide to Southend. Knowhere provides some very
useful info to different places including Southend. Maybe more
suited to younger "Saaafendas", it gives a different
view of the town. Though none the worse for that
